Hello friends,
I apologize for getting this letter out to you a day late. Was pushing to have it completed by yesterday, but after finishing a three day exercise and driving up to DC yesterday, wanted to take an extra day and send out a better product. We’re going to keep rolling with the new format with opening thoughts first, lifestyle, then investments.
Updates for this month, I haven’t gotten my blood work done yet, training has been crazy so rescheduled twice, and now have an appointment for March. I received the five ounces of gold from Bob Coleman with no issues, smooth transaction. Will contact him first from now on for buying more gold in US. I sold all my memecoins (SPX6900 and Giga) and most the SOL on February 18th. Told the Fortress discord when I did. 50% loss on the memecoin exposure and not sure on SOL, was above my initial buy and below my second buy. Funds will be rolled into SGOV (0-3 month treasuries) with part of it used to pay for wife’s graduate degree to be a nurse practitioner. School offers a 0% payment plan which is saving me over $50,000 versus the 7% student loans option.
The Disrupted Machine
The dismantling of USAid and the blitzkrieg momentum the new President is keeping on the government has been impressive from my view on the ground. Leadership seems to be in disbelief, or believe but be paralyzed. No one is telling us what is happening. The only thing we hear is we are waiting for guidance. It’s a meme at this point as people try to wait out the administration on the funding freeze. My personal experience with USAid and NGOs are below. I always thought I’d be celebrating if they ever got dismantled, but I’m not, not the way this has gone down. I just don’t like celebrating when others are having their lives destroyed. If you haven’t read When Money Dies, I recommend it. One of the main lessons from me in the book was how the people who celebrated those who had their lives destroyed in the hyperinflation were the ones remembered and blamed as part of the problem in the 1930s.
